This 5"L fantasy bird is a 1941 classic from Coro (1901-1979) featured in many jewelry books, and was simply named Big Parrot. Finally located a signed bird as several online are not signed & some remade in bright colors

That's a very cool parrot, I adore his long flowing tail and his lovely blue plumage. His little comb with the pink stones in it are a nice touch and the leaves add to the brooch too- it's like one of those lovely old vintage vases you see with pretty peacocks painted on them in gorgeous pastel colours.
That's a big parrot! Imagine how beautiful we could be wearing this on our dress!

Ken I so appreciate your kind praise, this is a quite humungous piece but as you know I adore parrots & was very drawn to this, have been scouting it online for several yrs but could never bring myself to pay big $ for an unsigned one, all of a sudden I found this & was so happy
Very good comparison Lauren, it does have the look of those flowing birds on porcelain vases, and yes I think this was peacock inspired esp that fanned headpiece! You have the most wonderful eye for seeing all the possibilities, I love your great comments & always look forward to them, many thanks
Mary I am so happy you are excited for me finding this, you can appreciate how hard it is to find a really old Coro piece in great condition, it was an rl find and very unexpectedly at a decent price - I think because the market is flooded with both unsigned and copies of this parrot (Julia Carroll the jewelry author says not to trust those), the seller felt the competition. But this guy has all the original subtle coloring and Coro mark so what more could I want. Thank you for the lovely words my fellow bird lover!

This is beautiful! I would wear it, it's getting close to fall. I would place it on my sweater or coat. Oh this would definitely be worn.....excellent purchase.
(Sorry made a typo, I was concentrating on how I would wear it and made a few mistakes...lol.)
