    I bought this at an auction a few years back. I was thinking it is civil war period. It popped right out at me and I had to have it. Can you tell me anything about it? Thanks

      Sorry but it is not a US military item of the Civil War era.

      To me, it looks like a modern fantasy piece made for reenactors.

      The flasks is poorly constructed-- solder seam visible all along the bottom, solder visible around the insignia, applied patina coloration, and modern leather strap.

      I have collected Civil War for over 30 years.
