The man is wearing a regular suit of clothes, not a uniform. But it is an interesting picture.
Both of the people look sad (but I know it was not customary to smile in photographs back them).
Is that a photograph in the woman’s hand?
I wonder if it’s a photograph of some “dearly departed” loved one?
Man is not in uniform.
Photo dates from about 1895- 1905, so he would have been fairly old to serve in WW1.

its great gran day look at my first photo i posted and his wife both smiles just can't see past the mustache and she is grinning. lol
