Wood-burning or pyrography was a popular folk-art, home craft from late Victorian to the 1930's. This one circa 1910-20s must have been a Christmas gift with these pretty poinsettia flowers. My sister found it in a Missouri antique shop. We love vintage linens. How wonderful is her message on the embroidered hankie "contains the smell of summer on the clothes line". That makes this a priceless gift and will always be included with whatever I put in this glove box....probably more hankies.. :-)

So lovely, and how nice the lid is designed on both sides, red poinsettias on top side & white below

Thanks Watchsearcher and Vynil for your loves.

Thanks Jenni - this is not a rare item. Some ladies had the wood burning tool with the kit and others worked on it at a class in their community center.

I would have never guessed this would be that old! I absolutely love, love it too and the message took me back to, none other than hanging things on the clothes line! Love the little hankie too. To this day, most of my clothes don't touch the clothes dryer, I just feel like they last so much longer. Great post, great box and great gift!!!

Love the pyrography, people still had those electric tool to burn the wood surface for decorations when I was a kid.

I don't use the dryer either for most of my clothes, they hang on the shower bar till dry, living in an apartment, that was the only choice. But so true they last longer and the colors don't fade.

I always look for these my #1 Mary, and I think I have one very much like yours, but the top was turned over because it was a little warped and fit better, so it's just more colorful when it's open! :^D Thanks so much for showing, now all you need is some 192o's White Leather Dress Gloves to put in it! xoxo :^)
