Here's another antique Trade Stimulator I picked up. This is a 1940s Daval "Gusher" 5¢ machine. Again, used for "illegal" gambling in the era, at country stores, pharmacy's, taverns, with this machine you insert a nickel, spin the reels, and for every winning combination, the machine would dispense a token at the side of the machine with either a number on it, or "Bonus" stamped on it. The award card states that you would then win "free plays" according to the number on your token, but in actuality, you would win that number in nickels. If you won the "Bonus" token, you would win whatever the shopkeeper decided to put in the Bonus window. I've pictured the hidden compartment behind the Bonus window. Pretty high stakes at a nickel per chance, since it cost a nickel for a loaf of bread back then!
