Vintage Axe head , I know alittle about types of Axes but this one stumped me. It's the teeth on the one end. It's heavy 7 1/2" long 1 1/2" thick and 8 teeth.
Any ideas what type of Axe it is and what it is used for?

It is used for cutting the grooves in a mill stone.

Yup that is a stone hammer. Also known as a man killer by those who have used them.

Thanks everyone I agree with it being a stone hammer, I would hate finding out it's a man killer

The reason it was called a man killer is because if you used one all day cutting stone or granite you felt like you were dead at quitting time.

Thanks again to you all, besides helping identify the item we are able to trace the life history of my father before he was a truck driver. Thanks again
