A nice Candia Glatt vase with a new Dek number I/7. I really like these colored Deks that are on Candia glatt and Arcadia. Not flashy but they make a statement.

Instead of 'Candia Glatt' I would describe the décor of this nice vase as 'Arcadia'

I originally thought it was Arcadia, but Deb thought it was Candia Glatt because it does not show the green tint that Arcadia does. I have it sitting in my case next to my Arcadia Dek(still looking for the number for it) and they do not look anything alike. Later today when I have some time I will pull them out and post them together.

To me at least, in the images the glass appears to be quite clear (colorless). Knowing that subtleties in color can be difficult to capture in digital photographs, it appears to lack the pale green tint of a piece of Arcadia, and also lacks the golden tint that would make it a Candia. In the pontil shot it appears to be clear and devoid of color. It is my understanding that would make it a "Weiss" ground. One of the translations of "Weiss" is uncolored. I sold a small Loetz Argentan piece a number of years ago that was done in a clear ground, and it was Weiss Argentan. Could this not be a Weiss Glatt?

I am not that familiar with the subtle differences in the clear glass "colors", but I can only go by what I see in the paper patterns. PN II 188 only lists Arcadia and Candia Glatt amongst numerous other colors. Now saying that, this shape also has and alt number PN I 8066. All I have is the CD and the pictures of the patterns don't mention either. Someone who has the first edition of Loetz Bohemishes Glas 1880-1940 would have to check on that. I am getting ready to post this one again next to the Arcadia Dek that I have. Stay tuned!

Although the Loetz patterns and their publication has been an extremely useful tool in the field of Loetz research, I think that it has been shown time and again, that there are many things found to be Loetz, that are aberrations in respect to the paper patterns.

Kai may be better able to address the paper patterns, and also my question about Weiss Glatt.

This vase is indeed Loetz candia glatt. In certain decors Loetz candia can appear to have a golden tint but this is due to the exterior iridescent applications. Just as often it is clear as is indicated on the pontil of this example as well as in the paper pattern.
