Very old cabinet with metal relief.

I bought this piece of furniture at a thrift store recently. I have literally no idea how old it is or where it's from. The front seems to be painted metal relief (not sure how to describe it). Two sets of small doors on the front open up. The wood on the back seems hand-hewn. The only marking I found is part of a red wax seal on the front corner [see photo]. Top is painted red wood. I thought it might be Chinese. Thanks in advance for any info!
