2 new examples of 1930's "apple juice" bakelite recently found online: first is best described as honey-colored. It's 1" wide, lightly domed and carved on the back with a flower/leaves design. The 2nd is 5/8" wide - stepped and also back carved but painted and doesn't photograph well. I'm showing these new finds with another carved beauty I found and shared 2 years ago. They are all considered apple juice color, #3 called prystal bakelite, but all different shades of the juice. As you know, I'm a cheap-0 - all have cracks so I didn't pay much. I wouldn't wear them out dancing. They must live a quiet life of being eye candy holding a martini :-)
Beautiful harvest colors don't you think? 10/12/2019
Lovely! I just learned bakelite could come in this color recently. I had to go test some jewelry. I was glad I didn't sell off my bulk lots yet because I found a nice piece.
Nice my #1 Mary, Hannah is getting lovelier every time you show her! :^D Thanks for wrapping her in such beautiful Bracelets, not to mention your own Hand, but where's the Martini? :^)
All three bakelite bracelets are super gorgeous Mary, that honey apple juice color is so beautiful and yes perfect to wear this time of year. Enjoy the two new additions & wear in good health my friend
Mary, your collection of bakelite, and other glorious plastics is unparalleled !
I have learned so much from you, and your honey colored beauties appear to have come from the bees, themselves. (Lol) Stunning pieces of “plastic fantastic”!
These are just gorgeous! When I'm out and about and see similar I've never known how to really tell what they are but maybe now I'll be able to look from a different angle. I don't even know if I've seen any that have been carved before and for sure never realized that the 2nd one, they might be painted. Very informative! And you aren't "cheap-o" you are just frugal :) Oh my goodness, I have great news for you!!!
Thank you evveryone for loves and comments.
Ken - yes, pretty colors. Thank you :-)
EAPGDepression - thank you, please post your bakelite :-)
Bill - ha ha my friend, I don't drink martinis. I should have said "toasting with a Lagunitas IPA" ...LOL....Hannah and I are starting to look EXACTLY ALIKE....
Jenni - thank you, I love the honey carved. It's a nice rich color and looks great with brown or butterscotch :-)
Eileen - thank you! Yes, Honey bee!! You are always so nice to say but there are amazing bakelite collectors. My items are very nice but not rare. I've met 2 who have contributed and written beautiful bakelite research books - Charliene Felts and Deborah Lyons. ....yes, I can't afford much from them....
Mary Mary Mary!!!! I so LOVE these! Can imagine the sound and the glow from these. They are smashing!!
Share - great news, would love to do that with you :-) Thanks for your comments about these old beauties.
