I’m a huge fan of these little landscape brooches, but I don’t know anything about them! Does anyone know anything about where they were from or when they were popular? They seem pretty common & mine range from a brown metal (copper?) to silver, so I’m guessing they were trying to appeal to a wide market? Maybe as souvenirs? Any info would be much appreciated!

These are great Miss Minnow, I don't recall ever seeing of these, but maybe they just didn't catch my eye at the time! B^D I will keep an eye out for them now though! P^D The Pin Back will help to date them, and maybe that M in the Triangle, in front of the Sterling, on that one is a Makers Mark. I could be wrong though. It looks like they're all made by the same company!

This is all I can come with Miss Minnow, 1920-30's, Cloisonné, it looks like glass enamel. I found one with the M in the Triangle mark, on another Sterling Brooch, but no real information on that one. Not really any luck finding them, but might not be describing them correctly! Someone will know about them though! :^)
Love these brooches. I was going to say they look French to me, Bill is right about the enamel and the metal separation, except they are not wires (cloisonne) but an impressed design (champleve) in the metal base and an application of enamels which were fired in a kiln.
The STERLING brooch could be American, that is their hallmark, for high grade 925 silver content. French possibly because they made a lot of these impressed metal articles filled with enamels, at turn of century 1900+.

They're called many different names, and I search further to see if I can find the Makers of this type of Brooch! :^)
Right Bill, this is my favorite in the Etsy grouping. They are called by different names and since search engines work with words, it complicates the results.

Youre welcome. I am curious go see what else you might find. What I have noticed with antique European jewelry and decorative items, is that the Holland scenes were very popular for some reason in early 20th.
From what I've seen, this type of Brooch was made from early 1900's-1930's, and some are called 1950's, but it seems that all are made with a hinged spring pin and C-clasp, with no latch, so probably not after the early 1940's, but not sure. I only saw a few that were Hall Marked, other than Sterling, but only a couple in this Etsy grouping, had any real information about the Brooch, except what could be seen, a lot of the photos didn't have good focus on the back, and most French marks, are hard to see anyway! I know that someone has the information about these [Cloisonné][champlevé] or [Guilloche] Enameled Brooches, but I think I'm going to have to learn from them! :^D
Truthordare maybe the Dutch landscapes became popular, during this time, because of the Art Work that came out of the Netherlands, in the late 1800's, was bringing interest to their Culture! Just another thought! Help or hurt, this is it! :^)

Wow! Thank you Billretirecoll, truthordare & Gillian. Lots of info to follow up on. I have to admit that I’m watching some of those ones you found on Etsy! :)
One thing that’s interesting to me as I’ve been looking at these is that there definitely seem to be some standard designs motifs and designs, but then a lot of variation in the color. I like the more natural colors, but there are a lot in a blue and white “delft” like colorway- definitely playing into the Dutch theme!
This has turned out to be a fun and interesting post for us Miss Minnow, we love the items and also we love to research them, and see what we can find out.
Bill, I admire your determination. I wish I could show you all the Dutch inspired motif decorative items I have right now in my house. Several were made in Germany, and I think we had a Bohemian Harrach glass bowl with Dutch children playing here on CW. Many of my ceramics have the windmills and children, but it was the first time I saw this scenic pastoral design in the guilloche enamel applications here on this post. :-)

Yeah Truthordare, I have a lot of Dutch inspired things too, but then again, I have a lot of a lot of things! :^D Some time I should rent a Warehouse, and sort, and photograph all of it, then bring a D9 in and crush it all, well maybe not! :^)
