I have amassed quite a bit of Iwata Glass, from all members of the family, but most is by the founder, Toshichi Iwata.
This is a very pretty vase and it shows some very common design elements of Toshichi's.
The first is the glass colour; he enjoyed pink.
Second is the layers of glass he has used here. First layer is pink pulegoso, then a clear case, then the almost white trail.
Third is the shape; with a flowing freehand body and a pretty frilled lip.
Fourth is size; at 25 cm and 1.8 kilos it's not petite.
I actually purchased this in Japan last year and lugged it around, so it's fortunate I still love it after all that effort!
Wonderfully flowing design... and before I read your intro lol
Beautiful vase, the layers of different pinks are just gorgeous Karen, to me this looks like a big beautiful tulip!
