Otherwise now the heart of my personal 'home sound system', this is a CROWN model DC-300A Series II power amplifier. A product of the late 1980's-early 90's (I think) it was an eventual successor to the original CROWN DC-300 amp introduced in the late 1960's, which was sorta revolutionary for its time in its own right.

Intended at the time more to power 'professional/club/auditorium/etc sound systems' (often used in multiples in such situations?) it is rated to push roughly 300w/channel depending on how it is hooked up to what. In my modest maybe 12' x 25' living/dining room, with of course the help of a little stack of similar vintage blackfaced SONY input components, two pair of decent (if not spectacular) speakers and an independently powered subwoofer cube, it DOES INDEED "shake my house" quite satisfactorily no matter what genre of music I'm in the mood to listen to (and/or to entertain my neighbors with?) at any odd moment. Note in the 2nd pic the two little red LED's over each volume control...those are the official "don't turn the preamp up any much more, or you're gonna fry something" lights... ;-) they start blinking a little (or staying on a little more steadily, as pictured there...) when things get wound up to about the sound pressure level where I should probably go get my earplugs to keep my ears from "ringing" later, even if I'm sitting in the other end of the house...

Now that is a proper house shaking amp. I like to feel my music.

I recommend Genesis The Fountain of Salmacis. The intro riffs make it seems like you are being ran over by a train.

This one needs bumped up to the top of the list again today too, not only for further THANKS to iggy & jscott0363 for the <love its> since I last added anything here -- but much more importantly because, in the last day or 3, it has been doing much more frequent (and louder) duty for me, duly shaking my whole house exactly like I love the way it does so well. ;-) Somebody else recently mentioned in one of their posts how "music helps us all feel better in uncertain times" (paraphrasing) and I cannot agree more. :-) :-) :-)
The night before last it was Aretha Franklin's 'Greatest Hits'...last nite was Queen's 'Greatest Hits' (both CD's that were at hand)...this morning turned out to be the organ music live from SMBC in Houston.
In every case, I SO LOVE this beautiful boxful of electronics, and all the joy it brings to me. [and to the nice neighbor lady across the street...you were absolutely correct that I'd been going on (again) at top volume for rather a bit too much this afternoon and really *did* need to turn it all down/off...] I still gotta try to get up outta the bed and go to work in the morning...one can't build pipe organs "working from home"...)
Today's 'house shaker' music for half an hour or so...even though its chilly outside I opened the kitchen door to let the next door neighbors listen along a little, too... ;-)
The Mormon Tabernacle Choir (with full orchestra) singing "It Is Well With My Soul". (and yes, I've already posted links to another couple versions of the same hymn in the last couple days...but this one just discovered today was the one that prompted plugging the comp into the stereo and making my partner (and the cat) otherwise retreat to the bedroom with the door closed for half an hour or so... <lol>
