This Pietra Dura Stickpin 9K is a new addition to my modest Pietra Dura jewelry collection. Although Micro Mosaic jewelry is my preference, in my opinion Pietra Dura pieces are also an example of craftsmanship and patience. Therefore a bit of a so-called poor child under antique jewelry.

Very nice little piece Agram as always! But poor child? :) A lot of fantastic pietra dura was made both in jewelry and furniture using even the nicest stones. I can see how Micro mosaic is more elaborate and indeed very beautiful but I thought pietra dura came first and then Micro mosaic was imitating the pietra dura but using glass? I find them both equaly beautiful but with very different finish and design. And you have both in your fantastic collection.
