I have 3 or 4 of these palomino Mr Ed Thunderbolt horses but this one has the original box and more importantly a very early instruction sheet.
Need to back up a bit. This is from the Johnny West series which was a 12" scale action figure based on the old west. It was Marx Toys answer to GI Joe. Both the same scale but by going with the wild west they made their own niche.
The horse here is missing most of the tack but has the reins which is the most important part. I sold reins for $5 each (not a pair) so those are important pieces. I have plenty of the other pieces aside from the cinch.
Now the exciting part for a collector is in photo #4 as two of those figures were never produced which were James West (Wild Wild West) and Jesse James. In 1973 or4 72 the bodies for those figures were released as Sam Cobra (James West) and Sheriff Garrett. The head for James West was used for Captain Maddox which is why that figure looks like Robert Conrad.
Not sure what may be next but hopefully it will be exciting! Perhaps it will be the set of 5 HO Box cars or John Connor action figures.

I had one of these when I was a child. A Christmas gift from Uncle Bud and Aunt Kaye who kept horses.

Love this! I have Thunderbolt w/tack, but not the original box. It's in my "hope chest" back in Iowa my home state. It was a Christmas present in 1968-1970 era. After that I would have been too old. I hope all the tack is still there. I have 3 brothers and 2 little sisters who played with my disneykins, barbie dolls, this horse, ha ha ha! Oh well, I moved away and couldn't take "stuff with me". I always collected as a young kid - put away in that chest. I even had the "10 most wanted" post office notice for Patty Hearst. That's long gone, I am not sure where. LOL

Anyway, I will try to get my Thunderbolt back and see if it's all together :-) The problem was I moved around the US and the 1917 hand-made chest from my great-grandfather was too hard to move around with me. So, Pillaged! LOL, it's okay, that's life and me not able to ship it. :-)

This is the horse I have, tail was broken off and glued back on. I played with these a lot and have lost some and parts of others. Wish I could find some in mint condition with boxes. I was really poor when I was a kid and bought them with birthday money that I received.

Thank you very much crewnail. We weren't rich but I had a paper route for spare money.
