    Really cute pot with a slit in the side - which opens up presumably brass with a stone on top - never seen anything like this - anyone ?

      You didn’t state the measurements which would be helpful, but just by the looks of it, I think it may be a stamp dispenser.
      A roll of postage stamps would be placed inside and threaded thru the slot so the stamps could be torn off as needed.
