This bowl is 6.5" high x 8" top diameter x 3" bottom diameter. Not an exciting color or style, actually more workmanlike, but with a great label, the original box, packing material and stickers on the box. A good piece for reference and it is a good size. It is even larger than the Hineri bowl I recently posted though not quite as thick and heavy.

This one was $13, so that leaves me a total of $19 to spend on one more piece of labelled Japanese craft glass. So there are good deals on labeled Japanese art glass in the U. S. of A. and it may not be as hard as I feared to find unlabelled but recognizable Japanese craft glass in thrift shops. Yay! Well, "Yay" when I find one more labelled piece...

I think several of the pieces I have found in my $100 challenge have been by makers who are now defunct. Is that right, Karen? If so, who are the makers that are still in business? Did China kill Japanese art glass?

You certainly have found bargains Kevin!
Many glass makers in Japan ceased production in the late 1990s. There was a whole group of factors: the value of the Yen had limited export, art glass as a commodity greatly reduced in demand worldwide, the Japanese themselves moved to a more traditional style of glass with Edo Kiriko, and production costs had ballooned. Similar things had affected many glass makers all around the world.
Kurata/Joetsu still exist, Narumi who are a giant homewares company mainly make crystal, Iwatsu are gone, Iwata are gone, Hoya only make optical glass, Multi Glass are reinvented as a four man workshop, and so it goes on. It’s a very different production landscape now to what was in say the 70s.

@racer4four - Karen! Thanks for your comments and valuable and interesting information! It sounds like Japan and the US art glass industries went through a decline at the same time.
