Bought this during my birthday month: carved bakelite buckle 2" x 5/8" each motif. I love this green and yellow swirly color....not quite spinach green, maybe end of the day, especially compared to the 3/4" wide bangle that I have had for years. I was a little disappointed with the buckle, it isn't perfect and looks like it's mismatched, but unusual and the price was right. :-) I think these are from the 1930's. Thanks for looking .

Oh Mary, these are just beautiful!
I see a small touch of yellow swirl on the left side, so it looks like the “yellow swirl” just touched the left side from the right..make sense? It’s an amazing bakelite buckle and the bracelet... a perfect match! How old would you say these are?

Thank you Ken - you've commented on my green bakelite in the past too - thanks again my friend!

Eileen - I think these are 1930's or maybe early 40's. I have more green bakelite, but these 2 seem to match best color-wise. It's hard to pin-point time and colors because bakelite was made by big companies who sold to dept. stores, also dime stores, and small companies that sold to dime stores or boutiques specific to their locale. Wonder where these came from?

These beautiful green with yellow accented buckles & bangle are so gorgeous and they definitely have a tropical flair, make me think of Hawaiian ti or banana leaves

I wanted to collect bakelite early on but my knowledge of what to look for did not permit it. I am glad you have such an amazing collection !~

Jenni - thanks for your nice comment. Nearly all 30's-40's bakelite came from the East coast mfg., but I am sure influenced by tropical motifs :-) The more I look at these I think they are end of the day colors.

Phl - thanks. When I viewed Andy Warhol's collection sold by Sotheby's in 1988 I realized there was more than the simple bakelite my mentors Dennis and Linda taught me about during my Omaha, NE 1980-85 stay. So many great thrift stores to shop with them. I still have some bakelite: mainly silverware, home dec accessories, but yes, some nice bakelite jewelry. THANK YOU dear Dennis and Linda for teaching me what to look for :-)
