The focus brooch is the larger ... perhaps largest of the Centennial brooches made by Sherman. The brooches were made to celebrate Canada’s 100th birthday (1967). They were made in several colours including Siam red. The large Centennial brooches are considered rare, and are often sold privately by collectors.
Sherman also made other maple leaf brooches — several additional sizes/types are shown. The smaller maple leafs are also difficult to locate now.
All pieces of jewelry in this post are in Mint condition.

Superstar red beauty and perfect complement to Phil's bluish black star, this is a wonderful Sherman design and among my favorite GS designs, love it very much!
That was what I wanted to do — try complement and compliment the previous post, which might be a one of a kind item.
Leanne, this is magnificent! The colors are a dream. I love Red & Ice pieces.
Stunning condition, I have seen this piece in other colors, even multi- colors, but these colors just “WOW” a person!
I’m in love!
The best of the best !~
The red and ice pieces do make a somewhat compelling request (to me), as well, Eileen. The majority of my collection includes the colour red, I think.
Thanks Phil. I do have a bracelet that matches; but I don’t think Sherman sold it’s Centennial brooches as part of a bracelet set, so didn’t post it. But I could be corrected ... better informed on how these pins/brooches were partnered. I do know there were matching earrings; but I don’t have the earrings.
So pretty! And rare!
There’s a beautiful emerald green one on eBay right now...
I know how much you like Christmas colors....
Hi Eileen. Thank you. So good of you. I recently acquired a small ... very small black opague, japanned Sherman maple leaf. Will post since there doesn’t seem to be another here. Want to be careful about that. :)
Thank you for the Likes and Loves.
What a fantastic brooch - and in Canada's national colours too! Very dazzling.
I was a small child when Canada's centennial took place in 1967, and this symbol was seen everywhere. As I'm sure you know, the 11 triangles represented Canada's 10 provinces and (IIRC) the Territories -- the national geography of the day. It was an inspired work of graphic design. I hope to get an example someday, but in the meantime I enjoy looking at them online via gorgeous photos like these. Thank you for sharing :)
Thank you for your comments, rhineisfine. I enjoy looking at this brooch, the 11 triangles, as well. Perhaps at this time in Canada the design will help inspire us, as we know we are tough enough as a country to face what we are at this time ... and eventually get successfully past it all. :)
Seven! You have seven of these gorgeous centennial brooches!? Is photo four new?
I am sure I would of seen this last year, as I look at every photo zoomed in....or did I miss it?
Incredible collection Leanne, I’m speechless!!!
