Wilhelm Lorenz (1842-1926) was a German ammunition manufactorer and head of 'Deutsche Metallpatronenfabrik Lorenz' (1878-1889). He sold ammunition to my officer ancestors. Here's his promotional gift to one of them: A cartridge case for a rapid shooting 37 mm cartridge steel gun turned into a pens cleaner. The text sounds: "LORENZ MÄRZ 1887 KARLSRUHE". You wouldn't want to be in the way for a gun like that.
