    Just looking for some input. Is this a minting error? Very odd. The letters on the bottom of the obverse are interesting. There also doesn’t appear to be damage to the lettering in the bend on the reverse. I would thing you would see some type of damage of sorts that would dig or bend the letters.

      I don't know much about Error Coins, but I would take it to a reputable Coin dealer, and ask about it, some are worth a lot! :^D Thanks for posting, someone here on CW will be able to help! :^)

      Looks to me like a post-minting stamping. After the penny was made it went through a second stamping process outside the original die.

      Not enough impression for me to recognize what other coin die (if any) was involved. The first thing to do is to try and determine that. Well worth the effort, as some of these error coins can command crazy money, especially if two different denominations of coiu are involved - which appears to be the case with this one. Simple double-strikes on the same die are much more common.

      At any rate, a coin shop should be able to help.

      Prior to 1984, the US mints also produced coins for foreign countries.
      With that in mind, if I were you, I would research online for foreign copper coins minted before 1984, and look for a coin with the “——-ing” word along the lower rim.

      A coin of a foreign country, minted in US, could have been retained in the machinery then re-struck with the die for the US cent.
      Too bad the year is incomplete.
