Here is a 2"L chunky textured goldtone centaur brooch with stars on body and one green eye, Sagittarius from Kenneth Jay Lane's first zodiac brooch series of the 1960s. Beside a 6 1-2" colorful porcelain plate showing a male & female centaur in a scene from the Disney film Fantasia made in 1990 to commemorate the film's 50th anniversary

Happy birthday to you Newfld! I don't think I've seen plates like that with Disney designs on it- it's very colourful and cheerful looking. The brooch too is in a strange pose- kinda like he's trying to pull back the bow with his hoof?! Its cool and I like it! :P

Thank you Lauren for the sweet birthday greetings & great compliments, I only recently found this colorful Disney plate & found they had made several from the movie Fantasia which had tons of characters in it (saw a replay of it as a child & was a little frightened by it, too many characters & I don't even remember these centaurs), and I agree the KJL brooch is a bit strange and rather primitive looking and plain, yet it is fascinating as he was just beginning to design jewelry and his later stuff was much more embellished
Hi Eileen, thanks for the kind birthday thoughts and wonderful compliments, I know the KJL 60s pieces are super rare and ultra expensive, this plain Sagittarius piece was pretty pricey, then later he made one with rhinestones that was out of the ballpark priced. I remember seeing the reissue of Fantasia as a kid & loving all the colors, Mickey as the sorcerer, and beautiful music though I think it was very dramatic and a little intimidating for a kid. Yes, those classics are immortal, look at how kids today still love Cinderella & Sleeping Beauty and the Disney co is still going strong
