This delightful Art Nouveau timepiece is a Bohemian art glass floriform clock stand with a decorative German clock. The floriform shape has a peachy pink and opalescent colour with a geometric "vein" decor pattern each petal. The center fitter ring that holds the clock and the two applied leaves serving as the base are of vaseline glass.
The German clock with it's original wind up key, I believe is from Hamburg American Clock Co . Clocks are certainly not my specialty. Everything seems to be all original and of nice quality. Please see the last photo to view the double crossed arrows to confirm the clock H.A.C. maker. If I am not mistaken this mark was registered in 1891 or 1895.
The art glass floriform clock stand is 7" wide.
The applied vaseline glass base is 4" long.
The fitter on back of the glass floriform is 2-7/8" diameter
The front of the clock is 2-5/8" diameter.
I've been fascinated with these floriform clocks through the years. I've seen a handful of examples at best and each floriform stand was different by shape and colour, as they do not surface often. Certainly has been in my "glass" bucket list to acquire an example for some time. Purchased in France. With the florfirom shape having a similar appearance to a floriform art glass lamp shade, there is nothing to compare with. No such luck either with the Schrieber and Neffen catalogues that have an abundance of floriform shades. So for now, it's unknown. The possibilities could be Loetz, Harrach and even Kralik as contenders.
Thanks, so much for looking!
