Three piece Art Deco epergne is surprisingly from Kralik during the Art Deco era. Production date unknown.
Each section is blown of opaque white glass with a ribbon of green glass along the crimped rim . (Does not react under UV light.)
There's a pontil scar on the bottom of the base and a semi-circle Czechoslovakia acid stamp on the base as well that is usually attributed to Kralik.
12" tall, complete.
The rim from the top vase is 4-1/2" diameter.
The middle section is 7" diameter.
The rim on the footed base is 9" diameter.
The base is 4-7/8" diameter.
* The last photo is from a 1905 Butler Brother's wholesale advertisement showing a similar bowl shape with the same crimped rim that the epergne has. There is also another 1900 Butler Bros. advertisement showing the same crimped design pattern on a bowl as well. I'll have to follow up with another posting. With the epergne having the Czechoslovakia mark from 1918 or after, this is a nice example to show how designs were repeated for many years and why production dates can be difficult to understand.
Thanks, so much for looking!
Thank you, Broochman for the wonderful compliment. :)
WOW! My first thought was Fenton Emerald Crest, but then the green glass edge is not as crimped as Fenton. After reading your description, I was amazed. Not the sort of thing we find these days, in such good condition. Thanks Leah, great post.
Hi Lisa. Yes, this is far from being Fenton and in good condition. I usually try to skip over giving a condition report, but this example was glued together when I purchased it. I wanted it regardless for research purposes. Never took it apart to see exactly how it was constructed or to find if it was serious damaged. Thanks, so much for sharing your thoughts. I can understand how Fenton would come to mind. :)
Leah,
This tiered serving dish also reminds me that some of the vintage and antique glass were meant to be combined. I have been browsing in old catalogs, trying to find pieces like that. Not easy. LOL.
I’m with Ken, the green border on white X three takes my breathe away.
Your glass collection is wonderful!
Thank you, Ms. CrystalShip for the wonderful compliment.
