These Christmas decorations are from my grandmother. She must have gotten them around the beginning of the 1900's. We had many of them but only a few a made it through the decades. I guess this makes them even more special for me.
On a recent trip to Germany I saw a whole store window of an antique shop in Weimar displaying hundreds of these balls. They were glistening beautifully in the sunshine and reminding me of Christmases long ago. I resisted the temptation to buy each and every one of them - but it was a challenge, I must admit.
