Freiheit's beautiful bracelet led me to dig out a few ethnic cuffs and do a bit of research. The book "Ethnic Jewelry" edited by John Mack says this is "example of Bedouin woman's cuff from Jordan or Palestine, 20th century". In picture 2 you can see it is marked EGYPT. It's a nice hefty 1.25" wide 96 gram cuff of a low grade silverplate over copper. It's a favorite. I usually wear it w/Native American Navajo cuffs that have similar design.

renedijkstra - thanks for your comments. I'm a collector, not a seller - LOL. Thanks for your expertise - I enjoy learning about my massive collection of wtf do I have?

Mary, your cuff is wonderful. I love everything handmade and this one certainly is. It has some history. That's what I love, too. Just imagine its journey from the place it was made to you! If it only could tell its story!
Of course I would like every piece I own to have a value, but I share your sentiment. I enjoy finding unusual piece and love searching for answers and learning about them. I would like to find out what my cuff is made of and it would be nice to be silver but when I wear it, it doesn't matter. I am a collector, too.

BTW, Mary, when you go out wearing some of your jewellery , you must receive a lot of comments!

Thanks Gudrun - yes, I get a lot of comments and I always throw a bit of education in when I say "thanks!", probably more than they care to know LOL. I think your bracelet is sterling and someone pulled off the bands. It's very possible that they might have been damaged - And, it's very hard to damage the twisted shape. Your's is SO GREAT! BTW, did you see my green "jade" Aztec face pin? I know you love Mexican jewellery. I'm still trying to find out who made it. :-)

Thank you dear Share - this kind of silver can't be compared to our favorite N.A. examples, but it's pretty great isn't it?

I can very easily see this on my Mother’s arm, her love of silver jewelry was shown every day as she wore at least 5-6 bangles on each arm! And that was just the bracelets! On a road trip going through Arizona, the silver got so hot on her arms, she reluctantly removed it until they reached a cooler climate!
      This is wonderful Mary!

Eileen - thank you for sharing your memory of your Mother - I take all of my jewelry off too until it is cooler. XOXO
