I've had this large serape for years! i bought it in a little antique store in Bali. I don't know anything about it, except that it's old and from one of the Indonesian islands. Does anyone recognize it?
it is a sarong keramikos. thank you. although i studied bahasa indonesian in college and learned to speak Thai as well, i've been speaking Spanish for so long now that i've forgotten basic words and they only come out in Spanish! plus i was too lazy to look it up when i posted this.
and yes, that is a type of ikat - which was also very finely done in Guatemala.
this one i believe is weft Ikat.
