This is my vintage Kay electric bass guitar. It's in excellent condition and I also have the original case, although it missing the original bridge cover. I received it from my father who bought it new many years ago. I can't find any visible markings on it to identify the serial number or model.

The serial number was a metalized sticker/decal that was attached on the back of the body, just below the neck brace plate. Most stickers are gone, but there still may be the remnants of the glue from the sticker (like on mine). The serial doesn't matter much since these are worth very little to anybody. I couldn't sell mine for $40.

I'd buy it. I'm a musician, and I love these quirky old guitars (Kay, Sears, Harmony, etc). They may not be worth anything, but they have some great style points! I believe this would be considered a "lawsuit" guitar, since the headstock is virtually identical to Gibson's trademark headstock, and the body and controls are basically the same as the Gibson EB- series.

If you ever want to sell it, let me know. :)
