    I have found this is a jewelry box in my attic and I have found very little on this piece. I was wondering if anyone can tell me about the markings on the back. I see a M on left side reverse on the girls dress and then across from that on other side of her skirt or dress there is a S A with all kinds of circles looking Mark's on back. When I type on line. It say fred grey, I'm not sure on this piece.. . Very lovely if I say so myself.. just was wondering of someone could steer me in the right direction.. please and thank u..

      Also, it says I believe JAPAN beside the M in the circle around the inside bottom of the circle going around with it. If that makes sence. Very hard to see.. clueless on this piece

      Hi I can't see the markings you are talking about in the photos. I agree it is definitely circa 1940 and it is totally adorable. I would suggest you consult the Brunialti books as they really cover this time period. Title: American Costume Jewelry Art & Industry 1935-1950.
