I was looking in my Mothers sewing basket and found a bag of vintage buckles. I've never seen them before, but thought I'd bring them home and find out more about them. The large Art Deco buckle is broken, but maybe the broken bit can be replaced, as it's fixed on with screws? They are all made of types of plastic and they are all different colours. I don't know how to tell if any are bakerlite.
Such a nice collection!! Bakelite? If you rub the item does it give off a chemical smell? Also, simichrome plastic and metal cream might show a yellowish color on your rag which is oxidation. Just looking at your pictures I think the double buckle is bakelite and the brown buckle in pic 3. I love everything!! The little black and chrome item in #2 is sweet. Thanks for posting these. I love sewing notions - all probably had matching buttons!
