Ain't it crazy the 'stuff' that people abandon/leave behind??? <wow>

Yup -- 'ya guessed it -- this was found in the "cleanout house", destined to be just one more thing in the huge pile by the curb if I hadn't come along to rescue it. :-)

An alto saxophone made by CONN, in a typical custom fitted plastic band instrument case. Aside from the unfortunate (and unexplained) large 'surface corrosion' issue on its front and logo (which might be fixable??) the instrument appears to be otherwise in pretty good condition and likely perfectly playable -- except that there isn't an actual mouthpiece/reed still with it.

Since I don't know how to *play* a saxophone I might or might not ever get around to procuring a replacement mouthpiece, or repolishing the brass...?? ;-) :-)

It is marked on its back with serial# "N 77781" and "MEXICO", where it was apparently manufactured. I don't know if that '81' actually also dates it, though I wouldn't be surprised at all if it is approximately that old -- it (and its case) reminds me greatly of my own Jr.High 'school band', though I then carried and played a trombone instead... :-) :-) :-) :-)

<LOLOLOL> Rob!!! If you did actually see/smell it you might re-think that decision ever so slightly...I can't stress enough the general UGGGH/ICCH level of that house despite that I'm (still) having fun 'tossing' the place to discover its treasures, while probably also exposing myself to all sorts of 'health hazards' in process. (ooops...?) There's VERY GOOD REASON why absolutely nothing that's come from there has actually entered my own house until sitting outside in the carport for at least a couple days first, then being unpacked/inspected thoroughly again out there... ;-)

And by the time I'm done (by late next wk I think, when crews are scheduled to start redoing the roof and ripping the walls out) y'all will havta just trust me to keep rescuing the (hopefully) choicest bits and bobs from amongst the piles...not to mention there's already also a whole buncha stuff I haven't pictured/shown yet, plus even more stuff that won't likely ever get shown here due to its 'commonality'. [let's just say that I'll never need to grab the odd contemporary Pyrex/A-H glass baking dish/mixing bowl at a junk store again...I now have about 3X all those that I already had...?? <giggle>]

Awesome find. I also think it's a "school" band piece but still! The older horns cases were not plastic, nor would a professional sax be in a plastic case, I wouldn't think anyway. Whenever i would find something I would leave it outside for at least a couple weeks...critter caution ;)
