Such a beautiful necklace that I found at a recent estate. Just wondering where it originated from. I thought the closure might be a clue. It's strung on a chain. I'm also intrigued by the metal spacer beads and the oblong black beads. Anyone know what they are or the style --southwest/middle eastern/african??? I'm just not knowledgeable enough. Any insight is much appreciated!

This is really an interesting piece, for sure. The beads you have described as metal spacers are very similar in shape to some that i have that i thought were seeds but come to find out, mine are bone but I don't know what kind of bone that would be. There is no dot or ball in the middle of mine either and they are from Africa. Yours on the other hand look like they have quite a bit of corrosion going on there but I wouldn't even know how to tell you how to clean this since i don't know is the black pieces are wood or not. Maybe someone will know much better than i do here.

Thanks so much for the input. The black beads that are oblong are made of stone I believe.
