This post ... first photo of this post features an early vintage silver tone New England Glass Works dress clip or brooch.

The so silvery sweet vintage brooches in the following photos are by makers (2) Sarah Coventry, (1) Monet. Two of the included in the final photo are unsigned — the one at left facing on top row & right facing in middle row. All are mint wearable items of jewellery. (Except: As I was photographing, I did notice a rhinestone on the NE brooch is changing colour.)

New England Glass Works was in Providence, Rhode Island, from about 1911 - 1958. The distinctive NE and chalice stamp, such as is on the filigree brooch/clip, was used for a period after the sale of the company. However, the focus brooch of this post is an early item, approximately 1937 - 1945. It was discovered in Calgary, Alberta in 2019.

    NE Brooch/Clip Size: 2 1/4” x 2 1/8”.

The vintage New England dress clip is positively gorgeous, such an ornate statement piece I love it. The other silver beauties are also terrific, nice sea anemone & very pretty deco design

Almost a starburst effect on the brooch which makes it look even more art deco. All of them share unusual designs, and so gorgeous !~

PhilDMorris — I absolutely love that NE dress clip. I didn’t actually know what it was until after I had purchased it. It has a certain heaviness. And I am having the problem stone replaced — by me. Yes, starburst Art Deco for sure. Thanks for your comments. <3

Jenni — Thanks for your comments. Anemone — of course that’s what it is; I was thinking dahlia. But you’re correct. Though these brooches sometimes seem to lack a je ne sais quoi when simply peered at laying in a cottony box, when attached to a jacket or dress, they take on a new glow.
