This is a marker shaped foot for Welz production, and is found on a very wide variety of forms, from squat vases such as this, to tall slender vases, and baskets. It is also a shape found in a variety of décors. A friend sent me the link to this one, and having not seen the décor on anything before.... at least that I recall, I snagged it immediately.
This little gem stands at 4 inches tall, and 3.5 inches in diameter at the widest part of the lower body. the ribbed balls measure 2 inches in diameter each. The rim is 2 inches in diameter. The decor is in a little more subdued colors than much of their production, and this one is done as a spatter on a clear ground. None of the colors are UV reactive. The feet are pulled and pressed from a gather of clear applied to the base, and the rim was cut and polished.
Not much else to add, other than I am glad that the link was sent to me, and that it resulted in a new Welz décor being uncovered. Much of my research is aided at times by good friends and Welz collectors around the world. I consider myself privileged to have so much help from so many interested people.
