Today was another boring day. I didn't go out much (I think I am going through thrifting withdrawal - LOL) and so I looked through my jewellery boxes. I want to share this bracelet with you. I bought it last summer in a small town in Ontario. So far, I am not too sure what I got here.
There are four marks on the clasp but three of them are so small, one couldn't get them any smaller even if one tried! The largest mark reads 925S. I believe that this indicates that the bracelet was made in Scandinavia. Now the definition of "Scandinavia" doesn't seem to be written in stone. I am saying this because when I researched the initials JPC, it came back to Iceland. Iceland, depending on cultural ties or geography or other reasons, belongs or doesn't belong to Scandinavia. Well, maybe one could rather agree to the term "Nordic Countries". Anyway, what is sure is that I am not sure about this bracelet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi - I believe the 925S means that it is what some call "German Silver" - designating the percentage of silver in the piece. Not, I think, quite as pure as "Sterling" but still quite good. That said, I don't think it is German and based on the style agree it could well be Scandinavian. Too bad the other stamps are so small! In any case I find it very appealing.
Finders9, I am still searching to find out more about my bracelet. Eventually, I will solve the puzzle. I believe that "German Silver" is actually just another name for "Nickel Silver", and this has no silver at all. Of course I can be wrong, but based on my limited experience I believe that this bracelet could be sterling silver. In any case, I appreciate you comment:)
Sorry - did not mean to imply your bracelet is of lower quality - just pointing out that some refer to 925 as "German Silver" - incorrectly. This is what is published on line:
A 925 stamp (aka a . 925 or S925 stamp) signifies that 92.5% of your jewelry is sterling silver, and the remaining 7.5% is made of alloy metals. If you see 925 stamped on a piece of jewelry, this means the jewelry meets the quality standards of silver.
In any case it's a lovely piece and agree it looks great on you! Enjoy.
Actually, the definition of sterling silver, in my humble opinion, is "Sterling silver is an alloy of silver containing 92.5% by weight of silver and 7.5% by weight of other metals, usually copper. The sterling silver standard has a minimum millesimal fineness of 925” (Wikipedia). For that reason, mathematically speaking, “925” or 92.5% should refer to "fine/close to pure silver content", not "sterling silver" content plus other metals. (At least this is my interpretation. As always: "Errare humanum est, sed in errare perseverare diabolicum"- I should know because I have been wrong many times, LOL)
Having said that, I have some pieces of jewellery that are marked "925" and I suspect that they don't have one gram of silver in them. I bought those years ago when I still believed in the honesty and regards for the law by people. I also have some pieces were the clasp is marked "925" and I believe it is for real, but the problem is that the rest of the piece is not "925"! The bad thing is that I believe it was made with one purpose only - to deceive costumers.
To make matters more confusing, recently I found some cutlery marked “Brazilian Silver”. I thought this was my lucky day, but when I did a quick search I realized that this was yet another term/name for silver plate. Every day one learns something new.
In regards to my bracelet, I bought it primarily because of the design and craftsmanship. As long as it doesn’t turn out to be a recent import from certain websites where one can buy “Sterling jewellery” en masse for next to nothing, I am fine.
Just wanted to add: I love this site. It’s a great place to exchange ideas and knowledge.
By the way, finders9, you have some very fine pieces posted.

Super sterling silver piece, almost reminds me of a charm bracelet, but the links are not as delicate and give the links a more stern look, almost masculine, which seem like lock links.
