A Piel Freres art nouveau necklace which was made around 1900. The metal is silver plated copper, the enamelling is lovely with a peacock eye inbetween the wings. I’ve tried to show the ribbon which are connected to a link on the wings. On the black ribbon are 3 beads on either side, the birds which I think are Ibis a sacred bird to the ancient Egyptians, both birds are perched on the same coloured stone.
Piel Freres were famous for their buckles and their theme was Egyptian revival.
A little about Piel Freres, PARIS jewellery firm ( at 31 Rue Mesley) which caused a sensation at the PARIS international Exhibition in 1900 with its fashionable but inexpensive art jewels. Piel Freres jewels were often gilt or enamelled, which they accomplished successfully on the difficult media of copper and silver.
There are no marks but attributed to Piel Freres.
Many thanks for looking
