The letters TOBR are visible high on the neck of the metal. Found alongside a hand lathe while looking through family heirlooms. Dating will help me confirm which ancestor was the original owner of this item.

Actually half of your handle is missing. There should be wood on both sides. I have the same item that belonged to my father in law which is from the late 1920's or 30's. I belive you will find your spoke shave is from the same era.

It's got both sides. Worn but they are both there. Who manufactured these? I want to check manufacture dates to get a range.

Still don't know what company manufactured this perfect handle screwdriver but the spokeshave that I found with it dates to the early 1900s.

Called 'Perfect Handle' by HD Smith the name is used to describe any similar oval handle with wood side grips from early 1900s. Highly collected by antique tool aficionados for their design and comfort.

Generally can be found on collector sites with current pricing.
