The last of todays attic finds. Statue of William the Conqueror. Did you know:
    He was of Viking extraction
He was originally known as William the bastard until he defeated the English at the battle of Hastings then was upgraded to William the conqueror.
Matilda of Flanders his future wife wanted nothing to do with him at first but ended bearing him 10 children.
He would not have any disrespect to his mother punished by the removal of the offender's hands and feet.
He made the English speak Franglais
His Jester was the first casualty of the battle of Hastings
He was sensitive about his weight.
His body exploded at his funeral.
According to some genealogists 25 % of the English population is distantly related to him, not to mention the Americans with English heritage.
He gave the name William (will & helm) meaning desire and protection to the English which became one of the most popular names even today its in the top 10.
