1. A climbing rose whose name has been forgotten.
2. Fourth of July Rose with a Cherokee Rose which volunteered there....
The Cherokee Rose was introduced to US in 1780 from China. It became naturalized and is now considered an invasive plant, yet, it is the State Flower of Georgia.
3. Unknown variety of climbing rose.
The “mother plant” had been growing, totally covering a tall fence along a trail in a public park. I happened to be walking the trail just after the massive bush had been severely pruned....the cuttings had not even wilted yet so I picked up a few, took the home, dug a deep hole by my fence and put them in. Now they cover a portion of my fence and produce masses of pink flowers, requiring absolutely nothing from me.
4. My sweet mother and me with a bouquet of various types of roses from around my yard on Mother’s Day. She was 87 years old in that picture. She passed away the next year. Roses remind me of her.

Roses are amazingly easy to root but I don’t bother with the textbook instructions on “how to do it”.
I simply take a long cutting - maybe 2’ long, break off the thorns, strip off leaves except for a few on the tip, dust the cutting with rooting powder, carefully “bury” it in a deep hole where I intend for it to grow....leave only the tip with leaves sticking out of the dirt. I do that in Fall. By Spring, there will be new growth. Pretty easy!
It would be such a gift if our parents could always stay with us. I think I understand how you feel.
Nice Eileen, I really like the Red-Orange color of the Rose your first photo, and Roses against a fence is the only way to go, just one side to get stuck on! :^D One thing I like even better is the two beautiful Ladies in forth photo! Thanks so much for your post! :^)

I’m so glad you like the pictures....I’ve vowed to not plant any more thorny plants around here, so I know what you mean about the fence—it gives some protection!

Beautiful roses & lovely picture of you & your late mother. There is always something that reminds us of our beloved moms, and what is sweeter than a gorgeous rose
Thank you Eileen, for the lovely comments. Those are special memories of your mom...my mom also made our clothes and I learned how by being right in her way as she used the sewing machine....I was always crowded up close to see the action- totally fascinating to my little mind!

I'm late to the game with this comment but a huge ME-TOO to everybody else's -- what lovely flowers and lovely ladies, and seeing this again today has brightened my day too. Tim, the easiest most carefree roses are Knockout Roses - just give them plenty of sunlight. Also, there’s an old rose called Seven Sisters that carefree (doesn’t need fussy stuff like dusting for fungus).
