Okay, these are the last 4. What are those metal bolt things on the very top of phone? Looks like maybe for some kind of wire supposed to be wound around them. In the inside under the magnets what was that empty box area supposed to have in it? Also see another set of numbers on the the bottom of the piece you talk into. I am wanting to get a replacement for the piece you hold to listen. Did Stromberg Carlson make their own? I’d like to be as original as I can be. Once again, to those who requested the photos and the ones who took the time to research, thanks for your trouble

The metal bolt things at the top are where the wires from the phone company connected to it. The empty space at its bottom would have held several "dry cell" batteries which provided the power to make the talk/listen parts of the phone work, the red magnet thingie in the middle (with its crank out the side of the box) is what would have alerted the 'central office operators' that you had picked up the earpiece from its "hookswitch" and thus wanted to make a call, the operators in turn would be able to send an electrical current (thru those connections at the top) to make the bells ring on the callee's phone set.
Stromberg-Carlson was one of several major manufacturers of telephone equipment back then and did indeed make nearly all the parts of their products themselves. It is not an unrealistic wish on your part that you might be able to find a replacement (whether original or a replica of some sort) to replace the missing handpiece -- good luck!! :-) :-) :-)

@AnythingObscure I just saw your response explaining the metal bolt things and how it was supposed to work. Sounds complicated. Can you get original dry cell batteries now, not that work? I’m not engineer minded at all but the whole pick it up makes the operators ....It’s actually amazing someone actually sits around and dreams this stuff up and get it to actually work. I think I’m missing part of the crank on the outside. I’d rather have the original made replacements but like they says if wishes were horses beggars would ride.
