These are Eagle #2 burners for oil lamps. Made in USA, new old stock, circa 1960. These are brand new American made, high quality, stamped brass burners.

The latest date that I can find for the Danbury production is 1964. For a couple of years I was involved in refurbishing old American made oil lamps for my personal use and restored quite a few. As part of my effort, I searched for parts and eventually found three dozen new old stock Eagle burners still sealed in their original boxes of a dozen each for $4 per box, which is about half of what a single used burner in good shape was selling for.

Before I found these, however, I purchased a dozen, or so, Chinese made burners and installed them on several lamps that had no, or bad, burners. The American made burners are much higher quality but, as far as I can tell, the Chinese burners work just fine. Only time will tell if the Chinese made burners will function and hold up as well as the American made burners. Several manufacturing shortcuts were made in making the Chinese burners which may make them harder to maintain, but I don't think that will be a serious shortcoming. Again, time will tell.

I have used only two of these NOS Eagle burners and will probably just preserve the two untouched boxes as collectibles. Regardless, I would say that I am set for #2 oil lamp burners for the rest of my life! I did revisit my purchase of the Chinese burners and they have doubled in price since I bought them two years ago, possibly due to Virus related panic?

@keramikos - LOL. I use pure paraffin oil and don't notice any negative environmental impacts. Judging by the lack of residue on the lamp globes, it seems to be pretty clean burning. I've read that Klean-Heat is good, too, and might try that, though storage life is much shorter than that of paraffin oil.

Thanks for loving my burner stash Lisa, fortapache, keramikos, Thomas, Hoot60, Kevin, Jenni and blunderbuss2!
