This is ...these are Sherman brooch and earring sets. They are composed mainly of rivoli crystals. These are somewhat difficult to discover outside of individual collections now. The sets were most likely made in the 1960s. I have seen statements that they are 1950 sets; but that decade seems culturally inappropriate, beyond the use of AB on the focus set, beyond the rectangular cartouche.
Gustav Sherman ... Sherman Jewelry is internationally-known for many-stoned, prong set, crystal chaton-focused sets — never glued. Yet, Sherman Jewelry, always innovative, did explore use of other stone types, settings.
I have included the matched earrings for the metallic set. Because the faceted rhondell stones of the beaded necklace sets of Sherman’s later years are also included as centrepieces in these — albeit, reduced in size — on (many of) these rivoli sets, the rhondell ear clips can be effectively-paired with these rivoli brooches. And that is what I am doing here, as I have yet to discover the rivoli/rhondell true match earrings for the black brooches.
These are from my collection.
