This raku fired ceramic rocking cat measures 5" long x 3" high x 2" deep. Made by Steve Vachon of Davis Vachon Studios. This piece does not appear to be in their current repertoire, so guessing it was probably called "Rocking Cat" and the sunglasses are a pun.

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Raku_ware

"The Western version of raku was developed in the 20th century by studio potters. Typically wares are fired at a high temperature, and after removing pieces from the kiln, the wares are placed in an open-air container filled with combustible material, which is not a traditional Raku practice in Japan. The Western process can give a great variety of colors and surface effects, making it very popular with studio and amateur potters."

He's very groovy...I imagine him swaying to something like jazz. Do you know that scene in 'The Aristocats'? It has a troupe of very bohemian musician cats- he looks like he'd fit in with those cats! XD and his markings are like Garfield too :P

@LaurenRedmond - Thanks for your comment! I do know that scene. I have a cat that looks just like him, minus the shades!

@keramikos - Thanks for the links and comment. I really like the Rockin' Bird, too. These raku fired colors are really intense.
