Thanks Ken for the fantastic compliments, this crab brooch was a stunning find for me as well, from the photos it looked more like a pin but on arrival it was so impressive, large & well defined rather in Richelieu style. I love a really pretty cultured pearl like this one, reminds me of 50s pieces
Hoot I love your wonderful compliments, being ocean creature knowledgeable you have no doubt surmised that this arthropod is probably holding a ball of sea pearl algae in its claws! Isn't it fascinating when jewelry designers try to represent nature, it's a very realistic crab that appears about to eat that pearl algae, which is just one choice in a crab's diet
Thomas my July birthday fella, I know this crab is early for you but Cancer does begin in end of June, and I am always anxious to rush in a monthly astrology tribute so no sign gets forgotten - yours is a great one because it's an actual animal or fish species, as opposed to one like mine Sagittarius which is merely legendary. I love him! For some reason, crabs make really cool and interesting brooches, even though I tend to find the real creatures a bit...um...creepy? Spidery? The huge pearl he has in both claws is a really nice touch too.
Thanks Lauren for your wonderful praise, this is a pretty cool crab piece except he sorta looks ready to eat that pearl lol. I so agree about the creepiness of real crabs, on a vacation at a Mexican resort in my single days I got up really early for a walk on the beach, and all of a sudden I'm noticing the sand started caving into holes in spots - and out of the holes would come a sand crab! I was quite freaked out & left the beach pronto, Mexico had a lot of wild critters including iguanas & scorpions so I remember cutting that trip short and high tailing it out of there!

Jenni, Nice and intresting to Me..Though I don't follow a horoscope to determine My fate, the crab is My sign. The ironic thing is that I cannot eat them..shellfish allergy..Go Figure! Lol!
