Ms.CrystalShip, you brought up something I’ve wondered about: all the lovely older earrings I see posted have clip backs or, sometimes, screw back. Why not posts for pierced ears?
Were pierced ears not common years ago?

My understanding is the person who owned the earrings had them altered as they would be more comfortable. I'm wondering where I might find more information on this set.
