      Just curious about the location because in Hawaii, that would be called a “poi pounder”.....the are highly prized there.

      I believe that is a mortar as in mortar and pestle.

      No idea what it is, but am I the only one that thought it looked ever the slightest bit "obscene" in pic#1...?? ;-) :-)

      It looks like a poi pounder used on boiled taro root to make poi to eat. This may come from Hawaii. The shape is not quite finished. I know this cause my father has one in his home. Look it up on the internet.
