I'm back with something unusual today. I was tidying my jewelry closet today and I came across this necklace I bought at a car boot sale a few years ago and I hardly ever wore. I searched the net and found out that it looked pretty much like Native American pearl necklaces. There's no mark and I can't tell what it's made of. The pearls are rather light and are strung on a silver-coloured chain. The necklace is 20 1/2 inches long and each pearl is about 5/8 inches in diameter.
Any help identifying this piece would be much appreciated! Thanks in adance! ;)

Betty - it's interesting you posted this as I am doing research on a necklace of Taxco Mexico sterling pearls today! (and will share). Yes, I think you have sterling beads. Not sure if yours are Mexico or NA sterling, but very nice! Usually they are strung on silver chain like yours. The clasp is new (I have that one) so your beads have been restrung. Do you have simichrome or a different mild sterling cleaner? Don't dip in a jewelry solution - I am sure you know that.

For some reason the owner before you took the clasp which would solve this mystery.

Thank you so much for your expertise, Val!
This clasp has been driving me nuts... But I'm glad to know about the approximate origin of the necklace. I first thought it was from Viet Nam or Thailand...
Yep, we were online almost at the same moment... The magic of CW! ;) I went to bed far too late last night, scrolling through internet pages to find pictures of Navajo and Mexican necklaces... I must be a little crazy! ;D

Val, I do have simichrome polish. I'm going to clean the necklace and I'll post a new picture when it's done!

Betty, sterling from Thailland and Vietnam is great too. But the "popular sterling market" seem to prefer marks somewhere and it would have been on the clasp as you know. I didn't run across this style or size of beads yesterday when I was looking for 3 hours! LOL.

Val, being a collector is definitely a vocation! ;D
Thanks again for your interesting comments and precious advice. Now, the mystery is at least partially solved...

YES, the collecting obsessive world....It looks so great shined up! If you find a good vintage clasp, you might still want to leave it on the wire. I'm posting mine today. I couldn't find anything exactly like it on internet - darn!
