Betty1978 and I were researching Silver Pearls at the exact same time thousnds of miles apart! I love her necklace. Mine (a great gift!) is 28" long and hefty at 197 grams. The beads are 1/2" and 5/8". It's marked LO-M Mexico 925 and strung on sterling chain. I think this is 1970's - but not sure....any ideas dear friends? Terrorist in the house - PHOTO BOMBER.

Thank you Betty - I just posted another for you to take a look at. That one is definitely Native American. Don't tell my friend (ha ha, doesn't go on CW), but I like your beads better than this necklace great....just saying.

Jenni - thank you - YES, Taxco is top shelf! Also my opinion, but jewelry is signed - so we know a bit about them. I'm happy for that. And, sad to say but there's a lot of counterfeit jewelry from Mexico. Plated silver, blurred double stamps. I research a lot and still have this under Mystery because I wonder about how heavy this necklace is. It passes acid test, but could it be plated? I don't know and hope a CW expert will also chime in. Of all the materials used, my favorites are stones, but agree some great use of abalone - of which I have a few nice examples.

Mary, I wish I could help you, but I no nothing of silver..especially Taxco. It certainly is beautiful, silver is timeless. Good luck on your research, it can be frustrating work. The “disc” beads are really nice, you don’t see those every often, right? This is a lovely necklace, but I really love the old “Navajo”!

Eileen - thanks! My favorite is Native American too, sadly often too pricey for me. This was a very nice present. Who am I kidding? I love silver from all over the world, so many great designs.

Thanks for your loves - Thomas, Fort, Watch, Kevin, Lisa!

A bit different from the usual mark which would be the makers initials and his/her number. Taxco is really not a's a town. Being Mexican doesn't make it Taxco however Taxco has become synonymous with all Mexican silver. This piece might be anywhere from 60s to yesterday as Mexico still produces silver jewelry. Nice piece.

Love these necklaces strung on a fine chain link with silver beads. Thanks for posting Mary.

carmeniscat - thanks, I know Taxco de Alarcon is a town, but also stamped as a general term for silver made in the state of Guerrero. I agree that it's probable that the mark is used by other siversmiths outside "Taxco". Thanks for your comments. Good to hear more expertise!

Lisa - thank you, these are nice!

      Thanks Kyra for your love.
