Great job on the cleanup of all of those!! I love the color of the wood bodies!! Do you clean the wood first? If so , what do you use? Thanks, Lou
Howdy Lou,on the bodies I will use a fine wood sandpaper followed by 500 grit wet/dry with an orbital sander...Corners,handles and wooden tongue manually sanded to suit...1 coat of Linseed oil well rubbed in with a light surface coat left wet...I will then lightly heat them at about 5 ft from a gas heater on low ...rotiserate after 30 mins...after another 30 mins. remove and wipe down thoughly...wrap up in the oil rags You have used and put aside for 2 days...then top coat with a 60/40 mix of Polyureathane/Linseed oil. This combination may take 3 days to set off...a very light, quick 800 grit sand and recoat with a 60/40 mix of Polyureathane/Linseed oil...Let dry off for 4 days in a warm light room...Lightly rub down with the oil rag...this is the exact procdure used above...no staining that is the Colour of underlying wood...Manual work and Time...Regards Peter.
