Some other findings. They were saved once again from the second hand store. No markings from what I can see. All in great condition the Clear crystal one is showing its age On the back. Love the detail on the Round and Peacock brooches. No missing stones.
The peacock design has been done by several makers, very pretty.
I love the clear crystal piece with the baguettes and chatons! Should always show the backs, it's where the mystery lays (Not just hallmarks, but construction traits can tell us many things)
That one caught my eye right away! And the Peacock of course. Would you recommend any books to help get me started in my research with vintage crystal brooches or even silver jewellery? I’m in Canada and finding it hard to come across books. Online they are priced around 200$ is that normal?
No, that certainly is not!
The only expensive jewelry book out there is Ann Pitman’s “Juliana Jewelry Reference Guide”, goes for $100’s. ( that’s the jewelry I collect)
Check out EBay there are lots of used rhinestone jewelry books at reasonable prices. There are specific designer books too.. all depends on what you are into :)
All look about 80s. Love peacock one! I raise them.
Thank you everyone again! That is awesome Horserescuer. I grew up on a farm and down the road the neighbours had them when I was a young girl. They are pretty special.
We had peacocks too! Didn’t raise them. Some rich guy n the canyon thought it would be nice to have some in the canyon ( See Canyon, California) and bought a bunch and “littered” them throughout. We even had a white one. One ( only one) would eat out of my Brother’s hand..named King Dodee. They are fun to watch, as they spin in circles for hours, ( mating call?) horserescuer would know....
