Got this Atwater kent in today. The cord is frayed and so I can't plug in. All the tubes are there and hopefully I can get it to play again.

vetraio50......I believe this is from 1927. It is in pretty good shape. It was a long day at work and so I didn't get too deep into it but Saturday I am going to post some better pictures. I appreciate you and anything for looking and loving!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE be careful when newly 'plugging up' antique radios/etc (which you've shown us SO many of recently) to 'see if they still work'. While it is often the case that they actually can do so, there's otherwise also a very real risk involved in hitting any odd antique electronic thing with a fresh jolt of full 120v power, ifn's (especially) the item has been 'unpowered' for decades. When I do it I usually use a thing called a "Variac" (+ a few hrs time) to bring it back to life (or not) *slowly* with its power source, in order to try to avoid any odd component within (usually things called 'capacitors') from otherwise self-destructing in the process.
Yet one more COOL old radio one way or the other, BTW... ;-) :-) :-) :-)
Thanks Anything for the word of caution and I really appreciate you for it. I wished I had a place I could take my radios that did not work and get them revived. I need to look for the external speaker now:)

OH, and best as I know, you can still buy brand new ones (imported, likely still sufficient for the job) at Harbor Freight or other such places... :-)
